Jean Prouvé crafted a timeless design with his Standard chair, originally conceived in 1934 and later revised in 1950. Now, Vitra brings this classic into the modern era with a fresh interpretation.

Prouvé’s insight into how the weight of the body is supported at the back legs of a chair was fundamental. While the front legs, bearing less weight, are made of steel tubes, the rear legs are designed as robust hollow structures to efficiently transfer the load to the floor.
